Seminar on Good Governance - Role of e-commerce
“To promote Good Governance, e-commerce should be practiced” said Shri R Sri Kumar, IPS, Vigilance Commissioner, in a Seminar on Role of e-Commerce in Promoting Good Governance organized by MSTC jointly with Vigilance Study Circle, Kolkata on 5th November 2013.He stressed the need for transparency through e-commerce and advocated e-commerce towards good governance. He urged all those present to adopt e-commerce and ensure transparency, and fairness in sale & purchase transactions in PSUs and PSBs. He also emphasized the need of security features in e-commerce systems and urged all stake holders to follow mandatory guidelines of CVC, IT Act and STQC. Use of digital signatures and permanent audit trails are important features of a transparent & ethical e-commerce system.
MSTC Limited is a Mini Ratna Category-I PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel, Government of India. The largest stand alone e-commerce service provider in the country provides its e-commerce service to almost all major PSUs, Central & State Government Departments in India.
Shri. S. K. Tripathi CMD, MSTC welcomed the gathering and spoke on the benefits of e-commerce services provided by them .A detailed presentation on e-commerce & a demo of live e-auction and e-reverse auction followed by an inter-active session. The seminar was attended by many Chief Vigilance Officers and Chief Executives of PSUs and PSBs and several other dignitaries from the Eastern Zone and Delhi. Shri Moyukh Bhadhuri CMD of HSCL also addressed the house. On this occasion, a book titled “Promoting Good Governance-Role of c-commerce” was published by MSTC and unveiled by Shri R Sri Kumar, IPS, Vigilance Commissioner. Shri Manoj Kumar, IAS, President, Vigilance Study Circle, Kolkata and also CVO, Coal India gave a vote of thanks. |
